- How many mulch bags equal a cubic yard?
- Standard retail bags are 2 ft³. One cubic yard is 27 ft³, so about 13–14 bags per yard — always round up. Our calculator shows both bag count and bulk yards.
- How deep should mulch be?
- Use 2–3 inches for decorative beds and 3–4 inches where you want stronger weed suppression. Deeper is not always better — too much can suffocate plant roots.
- Is bulk mulch cheaper than bags?
